Meet Imad

A mountain isn't just a path to walk, it's a place to get to know

Imad Ben Yahya is a professional mountain guide who has made the mountains of Tétouan and Chefchaouen his work and his passion. His ground runs from the mountains overlooking Tétouan, such as Dersa, Ghorghiz and Bouzitoun, to the Bouhachem forest between the two towns, from the village of Tamalout to the summit of Jbel Kelti, 1926 m, the highest peak of Tétouan province, and on to Talassemtane park, with the Akchour waterfalls, God's Bridge and Jbel Lakraa, the highest peak of Chefchaouen province.

He knows that here a mountain is more than a landform: every peak has its tribe and its memory, every slope its villages, springs and old paths. Years of walking have given him a precise knowledge of the ground: where water still flows at the height of summer, which pass snow closes in winter, and which village welcomes visitors with bread, oil and tea.

For Imad, a good hike starts before the first step. So he prepares every outing carefully: he picks the trail to suit the group, works out the distance, the climb and the time, follows the forecast, and arranges transport, meals and accommodation. On the way he sets the pace so everyone makes it, in groups of 1 to 12 people, and turns the walk into a discovery of the place, its nature and its people.

He guides families and friends, associations and schools, organised groups, and visitors from Morocco and abroad, on day hikes and multi-day treks.

“I don't want you just to cross the mountain, but to come back knowing it better.”

Why Imad

Six reasons to hike with him

What makes a hike with a local guide different from walking alone with a map on your phone.

First-hand local knowledge

Paths, springs and villages Imad knows from walking them, not just from maps.

Safety before the summit

Assessing the group's level, watching the weather, and deciding to turn back when needed. The mountain will still be there; what matters is getting home safely.

Everything organised

Trail, timing, transport, meals and accommodation: Imad handles the details so you can focus on walking.

Small groups, comfortable pace

A pace the guide sets for your group, so nobody is left behind.

An authentic local experience

Lunch with village families, tea, bread and oil, and a real encounter with mountain culture.

Respect for nature

We stay on the paths, carry out our rubbish and protect the fir and oak forests for those who come after us.
